Hi, my name is Alexander from Anubex
Today, I would like to introduce you to the (Anubex) Migration Factory. I’m here to answer the simple what –how- why questions on this interesting migration topic.
The Factory is a collection of tools and processes to industrialize a migration project.
The art of completing a mainframe migration to a fully new technology stack (including e.g. the cloud, a modern programming language such as Java/C#, a web-enabled HTML frontend, etc.) has been the exclusive field for highly specialized companies in this space, such as Anubex, for years now.
To further increase the productivity of our own teams, and to open up our migration offering to partners and customers alike, the Anubex Migration Factory has been set up. The location of such a Factory can be anywhere, for example in the cloud, and can be operated by any combination of:
1) Anubex
2) an integrator
3) the customer
The Factory industrializes the process of delivering migrated and tested applications.
These migration projects are characterized by:
1) high (and proven) quality, and
2) short project elapse times.
To achieve this, the Factory builds upon;
1) well-defined processes, and
2) advanced automated tools for migration AND testing
For the migration we use CodeTurn and DataTurn for code transformation and data conversion, respectively. For testing we use a combination of TestMatch for the online and message-based applications, and DataMatch mainly for batch applications.
In the beginning of each customer project, the Factory is set up and parametrized according to customer preferences. For example, how the Java or C# code should be generated or what the target data model needs to look like.
For each completed project phase, together with the migrated application (all source code, database) the Factory produces a testing report (QA) illustrating the quality of the migrated application.
